A rematch of the 2015 Asian Cup final offers an ideal chance for players to impress ahead of the next tournament
With less than two months until the 2019 Asian Cup, the Socceroos will take on the Korea Republic at Suncorp Stadium on November 17 in Graham Arnold’s second game in charge.
The latest Arnold era began with a 4-0 win over Kuwait and Australia will be desperate to defeat a much more highly rated opponent leading up to the Asian Cup.
These two last met in the 2015 decider of that tournament with the green and gold claiming a 2-1 extra-time win via a James Troisi strike.
Prior to that, the Korea Republic had claimed a narrow 1-0 win over the Socceroos in the group stages – with Australia just edging the overall head-to-head history with 12 wins compared South Korea’s 10.

On home soil Australia are clear favourites heading into this clash with odds of $2.05 for the Socceroos to win, $3.20 for a draw and $3.80 for Korea Republic to claim victory.
The goals aren’t expected to pour down in Brisbane with under 2.5 goals being scored going for a $1.60 and over for $2.30.
A 1-0 win to Australia is the most likely result with odds of $6.

If Kuwait was a warm up, the Korea Republic loom as an ideal early test for Graham Arnold and his new look Socceroos squad.
Goals and youth are top of the agenda for Arnold, who will only has three games to get things rolling before the Asian Cup kicks off in January.
Australia are now without long-time skipper Mile Jedinak and all-time top scorer Tim Cahill so will have plenty of holes to fill in a short space of time.
The signs were encouraging for Arnold in a comfortable 4-0 over Kuwait in October, but Korea Republic won’t be making things easy for a Socceroos side in transition.
Paulo Bento’s side are undefeated in five straight games having picked up wins against Germany and Uruguay during that span.
Their last hit out did however did see them squander a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Panama and Australia will be out to exploit any weakness as both sides look to gather momentum ahead of the Asian Cup.
