Podcast: Did the Lakers ever put Luke Walton in a position to succeed?

No category

With the current Los Angeles Lakers season thoroughly in its final and fairly depressing chapter, our podcasts cover what there is left to pay attention to, and how the season ended up the way it did.

Show Tiempo

Show Tiempo with Alex Padilla and Jordan Carruth returns after the Lakers beat the Chicago Bulls, snapping their five-game losing streak.

But are wins a good thing right now? Should the Lakers be in tank mode, trying to get the highest draft pick possible? The guys talk it out.

Also, everyone thinks it’s a foregone conclusion that Luke Walton will be fired this offseason, so Alex and Jordan discuss whether the organization did all it could to make Walton successful, or if the Magic Johnson’s vision just did not align with Walton’s. How much say will James have in the decision process of hiring the new head coach? Jordan also has another wild idea on who should be the next head coach for the Lakers.

The guys also talked about Jeff Van Gundy going national with their idea of trading LeBron James. They still agree that the discussions of a possible trade should be had, but both also agree that James isn’t going anywhere.

Locked on Lakers

On today’s episode, Pete and I react to how refreshing it was to see a couple veterans actually care on the court. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and JaVale McGee played their best games in a while. Rajon Rondo still wasn’t good, though, so I unleashed what would’ve sounded like an incredibly hot take at the beginning of the season, but is now a pretty mild statement of truth: Alex Caruso is a better basketball player than Rondo.

We then open up the iTunes Mailbag as promised and, boy, did you guys have a lot that you wanted to talk about. Everything can be listened to below. Make sure to subscribe on iTunes, where you can also leave questions in the form of a five-star review to guarantee your topic makes the show.
