Podcast: How does the Kristaps Porzingis trade affect the Lakers’ chances at landing Anthony Davis?

No category

With the NBA in a constant state of perpetual madness only Rich Paul and LeBron James can decipher, it’s a good thing they’re on the same side as the Los Angeles Lakers (for now). Things seem to be breaking right for Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka, but can they take advantage of their increased leverage? Today’s podcasts discuss some of that and plenty more.

The 30

In this episode, Harrison Faigen joins host Jas Kang to breakdown LeBron’s return from injury to lead the Lakers to an OT win over the Clippers. The guys break down the good and the bad from the game before moving on to talk about the crazy week it has been in the NBA. With the Anthony Davis trade continuing and the New York Knicks surprisingly dealing Kristaps Porzingis, Harrison and Jas look at what it could mean for the Lakers, both before and after the trade deadline.

Locked on Lakers

Following a, well, mostly ugly and frustrating win against the Clippers, Pete and I mostly just thank the heavens the Lakers didn’t waste 40 minutes of James’ return. This likely takes him out against the Golden State Warriors, but that’s a luxury the Lakers can afford thanks to their pulling off that win last night.

From there, our attentions turn back to Anthony Davis and, specifically, how the Porzingis trade affects the Lakers’ standing in their negotiations with New Orleans. At the very least, Demps now finally fielding Johnson and Pelinka’s calls is a step in the right direction, and one can’t help but connect some dots between everything going on.

Pete and I discuss that, then try to predict what kinds of bombs might drop on what’s already been an explosive story over the weekend.
