The 2015-16 La Liga season will kick off on August 21, but Madrid and Barcelona won’t resume their classic rivalry until months later, when the two storied organizations meet for the first of two matches on Sunday, November 8.

Last season, these foes met twice during La Liga, with the first coming last October 25. Real triumphed at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium as Cristiano Ronaldo’s first-half penalty equalized the score line after an early Neymar strike. Second-half tallies from Pepe and Karim Benzema were enough to lead them to a 3-1 win.

The second fixture came on March 22, with Barcelona winning in front of a 90,000-plus crowd at Cap Nou. First-half goals from Jérémy Mathieu and Luis Suárez were enough to hold off Real by a score of 2-1. This match saw cards aplenty as a total of 11 yellow cards were received.

Historically, Real Madrid currently leads the head-to-head results with 92 wins in competitive matches, while Barcelona leads in total matches with 102 wins.

Topping the list of arrivals is defender Danilo from FC Porto and goalkeeper Kiko Casilla from Espanyol. Madrid put together a solid preseason, winning both the Australian and Asian legs of the International Champions Cup.

FC Barcelona also begins their La Liga season on August 23 when they will face Athletic Bilbao. The biggest departure for Barcelona was longtime midfielder Xavi, who joined Qatar club Al-Sadd on a free transfer. Barcelona will play their next match on August 11 when they take on Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup, followed by the two-legged Supercopa de España against Athletic Bilbao on August 14 & 17.
