Delhi’s air quality is bad, there is no doubt about it, and every single breath of air you inhale you are breathing in more and more poisonous air into your body.
On Sunday the average Air Quality in Delhi was 625 and in some places, it was as high as 700 and 800.

The main pollutant in the air is PM2.5 and its effect is like smoking cigarettes.
One cigarette per day is the rough equivalent of a PM2.5 level of 22 μg/m3. Double that level, and it is equivalent to 2 cigarettes per day. Of course, unlike cigarette smoking, pollution reaches every age group. So according to the current pollution levels in Delhi, it is the equivalent of smoking nearly 38 cigarettes a day!

An AQI between 0-50 is considered “good”, 51-100 “satisfactory”, 101-200 “moderate”, 201-300 “poor”, 301-400 “very poor”, and 401-500 “severe”. Above 500 is the “severe-plus or emergency” category.
