Delhi doesn’t have it easy, and the ones suffering the most are the kids!
The deadly smog has made sapped all the fun and life out of them. Smothered by the smog and a mask across their faces you can no longer see them smile or pull faces. Their eyes are tearing up and you cannot blame them for being cranky! Asking a kid to stay indoors all day is blasphemy!
But, facts don’t change – the smog in the atmosphere has now reached a hazardous level that shrouded the city since Diwali. The AQI is almost 500, and some parts of Delhi reached atrocious levels of AQI at 900! How is a child to breathe? Delhi government shut schools till 5th November 2019 considering the deteriorating air quality.
But, are we even listening to our kids? How are they dealing with this bad air? Where do they think the adults are getting it wrong?

“I really want to go to school but I can’t because I am advised to stay home. Parents should make kids go to school in buses instead of dropping them in their own cars that can reduce the pollution through vehicles.”

I am forced to stay home and can’t even go my tuition classes considering my exams are coming. The solution can only come from us. All the adults should at least be aware that their children will bear the health consequences.”

Age: 15
Area: Vasant Kunj
“The smog and pollution is very harmful for everyone and we are not taking measures to bring the situation to normal. Motor vehicular pollution is a major cause, along with burning garbage and dust from construction websites. We all know this but we are not doing anything. We are making it worse. Please use more cycles and other battery-driven transport to commute.”
