This App Uses Your Phone Habits to Create Custom Couture Looks for You

We’re not using hyperbole when we state that Google is one of the most forward-thinking brands out there. Its fashion collaborations have been minimal, but its latest endeavor into the style realm bridges the gap between digital and one of the industry’s most coveted and most expensive categories—couture.

The digital juggernaut has partnered with fashion house Ivyrevel on “the world’s first data dress,” created with a smartphone app. Utilizing an innovative program called Coded Couture, the platform transforms users’ daily activities and lifestyle to design a bespoke dress from Ivyrevel. The house will not only develop it, but fulfill it as well.

Ivyrevel founders Kenza Zouiten and Aleksandar Subosic launched their brand in 2013 and have the backing of the H&M group—if you had any doubt about their design prowess and staying power. The house is based in Stockholm, Sweden, and creates the collection of “digital bespoke” designs based on a slew of data and different algorithms.

More than a year was put into developing the data dress app, which can be downloaded for free. The Coded Couture by Ivyrevel x Google pieces are completely customizable, so you can absolutely find your favorite color, embellishment, material, or silhouette. And what’s even better is that dresses start at just $99. Yes, you read that right! So you can get a completely unique look that won’t break the bank.

Of the launch, Ivyrevel co-founder stated “It’s such an exciting moment”. He continued, “We’re about to change the fashion industry by bringing the customer’s personality into the design process through data technology. To get a unique piece of clothing today, you need to either buy a custom-made design piece or design it yourself, but that is generally not an affordable option and most people lack the design experience. The data dress enables women around the world to order a dress made entirely for them, that reflects the way they live their lives.”

Style influencers are currently testing the app, which is currently launching in closed beta stage. We’ll be seeing a number of them sharing their Data Dress creations in the coming months, with the app launching to the public in late 2017.
