According to Le Parisien journalist Laurent Perrin, the now former general director of Paris Saint-Germain has not been interviewed by the press for several years – reportedly as PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi wanted to be “the only” extra-sporting voice at the club, and that he did not want Blanc to overshadow him.
Whilst it could highlight some tension which led to the departure of Blanc from PSG and his subsequent appointment at Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS (who own OGC Nice) – it also underlines the big role that the now former general director played over several years in the French capital. Le Parisien even went as far to say that Blanc was the ‘architect’ of the QSI project at the Parisien club.
It was one of the most high-profile moves in the world of French football executives for a decade, as Blanc leaves Paris Saint-Germain to become the CEO of all INEOS Sport properties – which includes Ligue 1 football club OGC Nice.
