Sébastien Denis is reporting that Milan Škriniar (27) is close to extending his contract at Inter Milan, and therefore rejecting Paris Saint-Germain’s advances.
Škriniar was extremely heavily linked with PSG throughout the summer window, and was reportedly close to a move. According to sources contacted by Get French Football News, the Inter Milan centre-back had an agreement in principle to move to the Parc des Princes.
The Slovakian international has continued to be linked with the reigning Ligue 1 champions, with his contract expiring at the end of the current season. However, in a turn of events, Škriniar now looks set to remain in Milan.
According to Denis, Škriniar’s wife, who was initially in favour of a move to Paris, has changed her mind and now wants to remain in Milan. She has therefore been lobbying for Škriniar to remain in Italy. The player himself also feels good at the club, and last season’s Serie A champions are willing to construct a team around him next season.
A contract extension now looks imminent, with Inter Milan willing to offer a four-year deal, which will see Škriniar earn nearly €7m a year, and in the process become the second-highest earner at the club, behind only Romelu Lukaku, on loan from Chelsea.
