Ligue 1, Round 10, 09/10/22
Montpellier – 0
Jonas Omlin – 5
Nicolas Cozza – 6
Maxime Estève – 4
Christopher Julien – 6
Enzo Gianni Tchato Mbiayi – 5
Jordan Ferri – 5
Joris Chotard – 6
Stephy Mavididi – 5 – Struggled to make an impact on his return from injury.
Téji Savanier – 7 – As he often is, Montpellier’s dead-ball maestro was a threat throughout. He went close with a well-situated free-kick early in the second half, whilst his corners almost always found the head of his teammates.
Arnaud Nordin – 6
Elye Wahi – 6 – Looked very dangerous on the break, and made some lovely mazy runs. However, he lacked the end product to convert those moments into goals. A great finisher, his decision-making in the final third sometimes leaves a little to be desired.
Others: Khazri (5), Maouassa (4), Sacko (N/A), Fayad (N/A), Germain (N/A)
Monaco – 2
Alexander Nübel – 5 – Not one save to make for the German on the day.
Caio Henrique – 5
Benoît Badiashile – 6 – Defensively assured as always, but not as serene with the ball at his feet. He was uncharacteristically sloppy in possession, giving the ball away on several occasions and inviting pressure. Those mistakes ultimately went unpunished. Whether or not one should condone it, he made a critical professional foul on Wahi, whose run on the break looked very dangerous.
Axel Disasi – 7
Vanderson – 6
Aleksandr Golovin – 7
Youssouf Fofana – 5
Mohamed Camara – 6
Maghnes Akliouche – 4 – The young Frenchman didn’t make the most of his chance. Despite showing some promising touches, he failed to retain the ball, and his sub-par distribution at times put his defence in danger as Montpellier broke with pace and in numbers. He ceded his place to Diatta at half-time.
Wissam Ben Yedder – 5
Breel Embolo – 8 – He clearly won his battles against both of Montpellier’s centre-backs. Estève was forced into fouling him twice early on, earning a yellow card for his second challenge. His physicality allowed him to hold up the ball and bring the rest of the team into play, whilst his goal was taken emphatically. Following his €15m arrival in the summer, he has quickly made himself undroppable.
Others: Diatta (5), Jakobs (N/A), Minamino (N/A)
Myron Boadu -7 – The Dutch striker made a considerable contribution off the bench. Immediately after coming on, he cleverly flicked the ball around the corner to put Ben Yedder through 1-v-1, although the Frenchman couldn’t convert. He then got his goal, poking home Henrique’s pass across the goal. He did well to remain onside for that goal.
