In a peculiar shooting incident, a 65-year-old Goa man identified his shooters and showed them his wounds while he was bleeding profusely.

Ajit Shivram Mahambrey, a resident of Poira village, Mayem told cops that a bullet struck him after he opened his window to get a sense of suspicious sounds outside his house, TOI reported.

Dogs started barking furiously
In his complaint to Bicholim police, Mahambrey said he was watching television with his wife and daughter when dogs outside his house suddenly started barking furiously.

“I decided to check and when I opened the window, I heard a gun being fired and a bullet hit my stomach. I started bleeding,” Mahambrey said.
The cops revealed that they have arrested Anand Degvekar, 52, a resident of Gaonkarwada Mayem, Bicholim, and Gautam Mandrekar, 35, a resident of Poira Mayem, also in Bicholim.
Wounded man ventured out to identify culprits
Even after Mahambrey was shot, he still rushed out to identify the culprits.
“I saw two persons standing outside my house, including Mandrekar who was holding a long firearm,” Mahambrey said.
“I showed them my injuries and Mandrekar left the scene.”
Following this, Mahambrey was taken to Goa Medical College and Hospital in a private vehicle and doctors there performed surgery on him to remove the bullets from his stomach.
Weapon used by accused recovered
Bicholim police have recorded the first information report under the Indian Penal Code’s Section 336 (rash or negligent act that endangers human life) and Section 338 (causing grievous hurt to a person). The Arms Act has been invoked as well.

“We have arrested both the accused in the case and they have been remanded to judicial custody,” North Goa superintendent of police Nidhin Valsan said. In addition to this, Bicholim police have taken into possession the weapon used by the accused.
