SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)…
Scott Hall, best known as a member of the Outsiders with Kevin Nash and the NWO with Hulk Hogan in WCW in the 1990s, is dead at age 63. His family decided to discontinue life support at the hospital where he had suffered grave complications after having hip replacement surgery last week. A friend of the family told PWTorch over the weekend that a blood clot broke loose and led to three heart attacks, leaving Hall reliant on life support equipment to stay alive. His family was notified of the circumstances and that there was no medical hope for Hall to regain consciousness or be able to survive with extraordinary life support medical equipment. They visited him today before discontinuing the life support.
Hall’s career first took off in 1985 when he was initially presented to AWA fans as a potential future top babyface star, essentially filling the slot left by Hulk Hogan when he departed for the WWF. Hall wasn’t ready for that role, but did end up in a successful tag team with Curt Hennig.

He’d travel to various promotions, including WCW, where he wrestled as The Diamond Studd. He brought many of that character’s traits to the WWF in the ’90s where he became Razor Ramon. He left the WWF a few years later with Kevin Nash and joined WCW when they “invaded” WCW Nitro “without a contract” and strongly hinted that they were “sent by the WWF” to take over. That set in motion a boom period for WCW that was taken to another level when Hulk Hogan joined the Outsiders and christened the larger faction “the NWO.”
Personal problems, including struggles with mental health and chemical abuse, led to years of setbacks and struggles, which he opened up about in recent years, including for the first time in a long-form five-hour “Torch Talk” interview in 2006 published in the Pro Wrestling Torch Newsletter.
He appeared for TNA in the 2000s and various indy shows and fan conventions in recent years. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2014.
At the start of tonight’s episode of Raw, Kevin Owens acknowledged Hall by using his catch phrase that used at the start of his promos over the decades, saying “Hey yo’” before moving on with his promo.
The wrestling community is acknowledging what Hall meant to them as an on-air wrestler and behind the scenes on social media tonight.
Sad to hear the passing of Scott Hall. I remember when Curt Hennig, asked if I could get Scott booked in @WWE. After an introduction to @VinceMcMahon “Razor” was created & the rest is History. “Hey Yo” I Guess God Needed a Good, “Bad Guy” R.I.P. My Friend🙏🏻

My heart and prayers go out to the family of Scott Hall. He was a great wrestler, a likable guy, and will be missed.
As some of you may remember, I had the pleasure of wrestling my last singles match in WWE against Razor Ramon. pic.twitter.com/Xn0iyXsP0v
