Dalers Pizza Sold; Gino's Of Farmingdale Opens

FARMINGDALE, NY — Dalers Pizza of Farmingdale has sold to the group that owns multiple Ginos locations on Long Island.

Dalers Pizza opened at 331 Main Street in December after 25 months of construction, preparation and delays. Ben LoManto, who owned Dalers, sold it to a group of partners who own Gino’s pizzerias in Northport, Kings Park, Commack and Nesconset.

“I got a really good deal out of it,” LoManto said.

The partners behind the new Gino’s of Farmingdale are Alex Tulley, Michael Licata, Joe Licata, Michael Grimaudo, Nicholas Bruno and Juan Nova. There is no connection between the new Gino’s of Farmingdale owners and the old pizzeria replaced by Dalers.

Tulley said he and his partners got a call from a broker that LoManto was selling Dalers, he said.

“We were very actively looking for a spot in Farmingdale,” Tulley told Patch. “We really wanted to be in Farmingdale. We were looking to open up another restaurant around this time. The stars kind of aligned, and we ended up getting the place.”

The sale was made on Feb. 15. Gino’s of Farmingdale plans to do a grand opening week soon where there will be “big specials.”

The pizzeria is temporarily operating under the Dalers name but is serving up Gino’s specialties.

Everyone loves the Buffalo chicken slice, Tulley said. The chipotle chicken ranch slice “flies off the counter,” and the upside down slice is made with fresh mozzarella, grandma sauce and seasoned bread crumbs. Gino’s serves unorthodox slices such as the General Tso’s slice and the Piesano slice, which features fresh mozzarella cheese, sweet plum tomato sauce, pepperoni, crumbled sausage, cherry peppers and a honey drizzle. The Sicilian slices are made with pre-baked shells, making the crust nice and crispy.

“Every slice, you can’t go wrong,” Tulley said.

The new Gino’s ownership really like Farmingdale, Tulley said, as the group was looking to add a village location to its portfolio.

“All of our locations are neighborhood and shopping center. We really wanted to be in a busy village, open late-type of place and see how it goes,” he said.

The group is “really looking forward” to being in Farmingdale.

“We want to be here for a long time,” Tulley said. “We’re looking froward to everyone trying Gino’s pizza.”

Tulley said he and his co-owners put a lot of care into everything from top to bottom.

“We help make the dough, help make pizza, cook, make sure all the recipes are on point. Every single thing that we make, we have a hand in it,” he said.

LoManto plans to shift his focus to Vespa, an Italian restaurant in Farmingdale. He’s also in the midst of opening a Vespa in Ronkonkoma.
