Man Hit While Riding Electric Scooter In Atlantic Highlands

ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ — A man riding an electric scooter was hit by a car at 8:52 p.m. Sunday in Atlantic Highlands, police in that town announced on their Facebook page.

He was hit while scooting on Rt. 36, near the intersection of Valley Drive.

When police got there, the man was lying on the highway with a head injury. He was air lifted by helicopter to Jersey Shore Medical Center.

As of Monday, the man was released from the hospital, said police.

Atlantic Highlands Police said “a tragic situation appears to have been avoided.”

The driver remained at the scene and no charges have been filed. Police ask residents to wear reflective clothing, have lighting and wear a helmet if they are going to ride a scooter on a highway, especially at night.
