BROOKHAVEN TOWN, NY — Five people, including a bicyclist, were injured in three series of crashes during a roughly two-hour time frame in Brookhaven Town on Monday night, Suffolk police said.
In the first crash of the afternoon, at around 4:40 p.m., a 2013 Infiniti was traveling eastbound in the center lane on the Long Island Expressway in Yaphank when a vehicle in the left lane struck a male’s vehicle, police said, adding that the Infiniti then struck a construction light tower and some bushes.
The driver was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue for minor injuries, police said.

In the second crash at around 5:48 p.m., a Honda struck a bicyclist on northbound Boyle Road, near Middle Country Road in Selden, according to police.
The bicyclist was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

In the third crash at around 6:20 p.m., four vehicles were involved in a chain reaction caused by one of them being rear-ended on southbound Horseblock Road, near Sunrise Highway, in Brookhaven, according to police.
