Patrice Evra is suspended by Marseille following kung-fu kick fiasco

Marseille have confirmed the immediate suspension of French international left-back Patrice Evra following the player’s decision to kick out at Marseille fans pre-Thursday’s match against Vitoria Guimaraes in the Europa League.

Evra was being tormented and verbally abused by a section of the travelling Marseille support over his poor performances as the squad warmed up ahead of this fixture which OM ended up losing 1-0.

Certain fans then broke through barriers to come face to face with Evra, who lashed back by unleashing a kung-fu kick on one of these supposed fans.

Marseille have released a statement condemning a series of individuals for “provoking” Patrice Evra in an unacceptable way, but have equally condemned Evra’s actions “as a seasoned professional” who should not have lashed out.
