The Los Angeles Lakers are nearing the end of their regular season, which mean it’s time to reflect on the things they did wrong this season, as well as what they can do to fix those mistakes in the offseason. That’s exactly what we did on today’s round of podcasts.
Can You Dig It?
Another season has passed and the Lakers will once again go into the summer with a hole at the center position, as both Tyson Chandler and JaVale McGee are set to hit unrestricted free agency.
If Chandler and McGee leave to pursue opportunities on other teams, the lone center on the Lakers’ roster will be Moe Wagner, assuming they don’t target a center in the draft. That’s not ideal.
Luckily, this year’s free agency class will be deep at the center position with names like Nikola Vucevic, DeAndre Jordan and DeMarcus Cousins. On this week’s episode of “Can You Dig It?” Christian invites Jacob Rude of Lonzo Wire to try and find the best fit for the Lakers at center.

Locked on Lakers
Heading into this season, much was made about the lack of shooting under the Lakers employ. There were arguments to be made about some of the shooters coming off of decent seasons, but as it turned out, everyone forgot how to shoot.
Today on “Locked on Lakers,” Anthony and Pete discuss what went into that roster-wide decline and how those flaws can be used to explain what went wrong this season on a larger scale. Yes, a ton has been written and spoken about who is to blame, but finding systemic issues feels like a more thorough means to address those problems than merely pointing fingers.
Pete also had quite the revelation about Luke Walton’s system. Specifically, well, it was a completely different system than he had run offensively the first couple years. It was just hard to tell what that strategy was given the injuries and general lack of organization consistently.
