Hailing from Colorado, both Melanie Knecht and Trevor Hahn have defied all odds stacked against their favour to materialise their dream of going on hikes. What makes these two different is the fact that Melanie can’t walk while Trevor cannot see.

29-year-old Knecht was born with spina bifida (a birth defect that occurs when the spine and spinal cord don’t form properly) while 42-year-old Trevor lost his eyesight due to glaucoma five years back.
Knecht often uses the wheelchair because of which it was difficult for her to do anything ‘off-road’. On the other hand, Trevor continued to hike but relied on having fellow hikers around who could guide him with spoken direction, an article published on aleteia.org said.
