HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — As part of a long-standing tradition, students of The Art Academy donated their time to paint portraits of the newest Township Committee members.
The portraits of Deputy Mayor Robert Britting, Committeeman James Ruh, and Committeeman John Ciccarelli were unveiled at the Aug. 22 meeting.
Founder of The Art Academy Kevin Murphy said he started his business 14 years ago after first moving to the township.

“Once we got the business opened the town was incredibly supportive of what we were doing and so I immediately started looking for a way to give back to the town,” said Murphy.
Murphy began training high school students on how to produce art.

For the past 13 years, Murphy said his students have been painting all of the “elected officials as they were elected so we could have a historic document of our township committees.”
Halley Murphy, age 17, painted Ruh’s portrait; Vikhya Kota, age 15, painted Ciccarelli’s portrait; and Celline Han painted Britting’s portrait.
