“I’m honored that I have earned the trust and confidence of our residents,” Carpenter said in a statement to Patch. “We have addressed our infrastructure needs and delivered services to the Town. We have taken care of our parks and our roads in ways they hadn’t been done in years.”

Carpenter has served as Town of Islip Supervisor since 2015, becoming the first woman to hold the position in town history.

She also was a Suffolk County Legislator from 1993 to 2005, and Suffolk County Treasurer 2006 to 2015.

“I’m grateful to have four more years to finish what we started, and to continue working on projects such as the Byron Lake Pool renovation, the town’s forward-thinking Comprehensive Plan and improving our Town Hall so that it is more accessible to the public both digitally and physically,” Carpenter said.
