Snow And A Messy Commute In PA: See The Timeline

PENNSYLVANIA — Better set your alarm for earlier than usual on Tuesday, as a storm moving into the region Monday is anticipated to bring a mix of snow and rain to eastern Pennsylvania, according to the National Weather Service.

A winter weather advisory from the National Weather Service’s Mount Holly office is set to take effect at 7 p.m. Monday and continue through 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The forecast is calling for snow beginning Monday afternoon and continuing through the evening with predictions of 2 to 4 inches of accumulation north and west of Interstate 95, with higher amounts farther west.

A mix of snow and freezing rain is possible and roads will be slippery, the weather service said, as frigid temperatures turn surfaces icy.

Slippery roads could linger into the morning commute as the snow is expected to change over to mixed precipitation on Tuesday, the weather service said. The precipitation is expected to taper off by Tuesday afternoon.

Bundle up, as high temperatures are expected to hover around 32 degrees or just below for most of the state, with colder temperatures north and west of I-95. The coldest temperatures of the year are expected on Wednesday, with daytime wind chills in the single digits and teens, the forecast said.

MONDAY: Light snow beginning about 4 p.m. Monday. Cloudy, with high temperatures near 30. Light wind becoming calm.

MONDAY NIGHT: Snow likely, mainly after midnight. Cloudy, with low temperatures in the upper 20s. Calm winds.

TUESDAY: Snow likely mainly before noon, then switching over to rain, snow and freezing rain until about 1 p.m. Slight chance of rain and snow after 1 p.m. High temperature near 35. Northeast wind of 5 to 15 mph.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy with temperatures dropping to about 20 degrees.

WEDNESDAY: Sunny with highs in the mid-20s and west winds of 10 to 15 mph.
