Record Rainfall In Pittsburgh Prompts Flooding, Emergency Rescue

PITTSBURGH, PA — All Pittsburgh Pubic Safety bureaus were dispatched Sunday evening to the Monongahela Wharf, Downtown, for reports of multiple people trapped by the rising waters of the Mon River.

One person was rescued via a ladder.

Although no other people were seen, river rescue divers waded through the flood waters to the remaining tents and physically inspected each one for any other possible victims. However, none were located.

The river rescue team traveled around Point State Park and along the Allegheny River to ensure no other people were in danger.

According to the National Weather Service, record rainfall occurred in the Pittsburgh metro area on Sunday.
