SEAL BEACH, CA — A 39-year-old man was arrested on a DUI charge after an early-morning crash Monday that killed a woman who was riding in his vehicle, according to the Seal Beach Police Department.

The crash happened at Seal Beach Boulevard and North Gate Road at around 2 a.m. Monday. Police responded to a report of a traffic accident involving an unresponsive female passenger, according to the department.
The woman was ejected from the vehicle upon the crash’s impact, detectives discovered at the scene. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

The driver, Victor Alfonso Campos Carranza of Los Angeles, was transported to a local hospital for treatment. He was later taken to the Orange County Jail and booked on suspicion of felony DUI causing bodily injury and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, according to police.
The southbound Seal Beach Boulevard off-ramp on the 405 Freeway was closed for about five hours after the crash. Roads fully reopened at about 11 a.m., police said.
