PORT WASHINGTON, NY — President Biden highlighted his policies and looked ahead to a second term during Thursday night’s State of the Union address. With the field cleared following Nikki Haley suspending her campaign, Biden can gear up for a rematch with former president Donald Trump in November.
Polls indicate Trump leading in his bid to return to the White House, but Anthony Scaramucci, former Trump’s communications director, is confident that Biden will get reelected.
“I would take elderly, somewhat forgetful, and even if he’s promulgating bad policy. I’ll take that over full-on insanity and the potential destruction that Mr. Trump offers,” Scaramucci told Patch.

While Scaramucci thinks Biden’s calmer demeanor will ultimately win the election, but at a cost.
“He’s going to cause a lot of havoc. He’s going to say a lot of lies,” he said. “Of course, when he loses the election, he’ll say that it was rigged to try to foment distrust in people about the system. I find that un-American and traitorous, to be honest.”

Even though Scaramucci is all in on Biden’s reelection bid, “he shouldn’t be running for another term,” Scaramucci admitted. “Let’s not kid each other.”
However, he speculated that if Trump was out of the picture, “he probably wouldn’t run.”
Barring a health crisis for the 81-year-old president, Scaramucci sees only a minuscule chance that he would end the campaign before locking up the nomination at the Democratic Convention in August.
“You can’t have Donald Trump return to the White House,” he said. “We can deal with faulty policy for a few years in the country. I just don’t want the institutions of this democracy threatened.”
