L’Équipe report that Ligue 1 side Rennes are on the verge of bringing in 30-year-old French defensive midfielder Maxime Gonalons from AS Roma on what would appear to be a loan with option to buy deal.
A multitude of Premier League clubs enquired for the ex-Lyon captain in June, but didn’t go any further. The Brittany side appear to have found their replacement for Benjamin André, who joined Lille earlier this summer for €8m.
Sources close to the player insisted last night that an agreement was imminent.
