Speaking in an interview with L’Équipe, AS Monaco Vice President Vadim Vasilyev flatly denied claims that Monaco had contacted Claude Puel about taking over from Leonardo Jardim at the end of the season, confirming that the Portuguese manager will remain for the 2016/17 campaign.
“I do not know who, from us, had lunch with Claude Puel and if it is true. But it was not me, and at Monaco, only the president and I have the power. Puel knows a lot of people here and he can have lunch with who he wants in a private setting, but we are in in contact with anyone and we have never considered changing our manager. We are very happy with Jardim, he has a three year contract and he will be our manager next season. Where we finish in the table at the end of the season will not change anything. It would be stupid to change manager this summer. Where would be the sense in that?”
